During the feudal era, crops weren’t growing and the land was in a drought. To save his land, Daigo makes a deal with demons. In exchange for a great harvest, the demons took the limbs of his first son. Daigo accepts the circumstances and orders the death of his infant son.

The midwife decides to give the limbless boy a chance to love by sending him off in a bot alone. The boy grows up and in order to get his body back, he travels the country to kill demons. During his journey, he meets an orphaned child that decides to join him.

What We Think Of Dororo

**Warning spoilers ahead**

From the first episode of Dororo we couldn’t help but like Dororo’s character. An orphaned child that is running from bandits that he decided to steal from, a thief to thieves.

At the start of the anime, Hyakkimaru doesn’t have any limbs and we can assume that he kills his first demon in episode 1. Watching his skin grow back after killing the demon made us at The Anime Index feel discomfort and curiosity.

As we continued to watch Dororo, watching Hyakkimaru get his limbs back felt somewhat heartwarming. Once he regained his hearing and heard Mio’s singing, the anime took a shot at our emotions. The few episodes we got between Hyakkimaru and Mio was a great change from the bloody gore the series starts off with.

After learning that Dororo is a girl, we were shocked. Some people noticed right away but we were slow on noticing. Either way, we can’t wait to see where this leads both Dororo and Hyakkimaru.
